Sightseeing Base

The first stop for any sightseeing trip must be Salzburg - famous for both Mozart and the Sound of Music, depending on your cultural preference! The Old City is a UNESCO world heritage site and the town is split by the Salzach river and it's many bridges.

When you make the trip to Salzburg you will not only pass through Germany but you will see a truly wonderful road sign when you join the A1 at the first fork junction – veer right for Italy, Slovenia and Hungary, left for Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany and straight on for Vienna and Linz..

With an early start Venice, Verona, Munich, Lake Bled and Llubjiana and the major cities of Austria are suitable for a day trip. An overnight trip makes Prague, Budapest, Zagreb, Milan, Bratislava, Basel and Stuttgart reachable.

The lake district to the north of Salzburg is vast and fascinating whether you are just sightseeing or plan some water based activities.
